Evelyn WARKENTIN

January 8, 2005

It was with great sadness that we said goodbye to Evelyn Warkentin who entered into the presence of her Lord on January 8, 2005 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Evelyn will be lovingly remembered and sorely missed by her family and many friends. She is survived by her son, Ken Warkentin of Winnipeg, Man.; her brother, Joe (Ruth) Sommer of Chilliwack, B.C.; nieces, Joanne (Tom) Sommer-Miller; Marilyn (James) Shiach; Karen (Chris) McGrath and their families; her two wonderful granddaughters, Samantha and Kelly Warkentin and their mother, Sandra, of Medicine Hat, Alta. Evelyn will also be deeply missed by Norm Kachenko of Hope, B.C. She was his best friend and the love of his life for approximately 8 years.

Evelyn was born on February 12, 1931 in New Sarepta, Alta. and moved to Chilliwack with her parents in 1948. Here she found employment and because of her fun loving personality and wonderful spirit she made many friends. One of her favorite pastimes was to meet with people for coffee to talk and visit with them or to help someone in need. Evelyn brought sunshine to everyone she met, she loved a good laugh and one always felt better after spending time with her.

Another of Evelyn’s great pleasures was travelling. She took several overseas trips; but especially loved travelling throughout B.C., Alberta and the Yukon, stopping to visit her many relatives, friends or just sight seeing and exploring the great outdoors.

A special thank you to the wonderful nurses and staff at Bradley Centre, who so lovingly cared for her. Also to Pastor Glenn Fretz who showed so much love and encouragement to both the family and to Evelyn during her lengthy illness. God bless you all.

A Memorial Service will be held at Chilliwack Evangelical Missionary Church, corner of Princess and Williams, Chilliwack, B.C. on Thursday, Jan. 13th, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. Private interment service will precede.

Should family and friends so desire, donations in her memory may be made to the Evangelical Missionary Church Memorial Fund.
