(nee Bateman)

Eva passed away peacefully surrounded by family, on April 6, 2013 at the Waverly Seniors Village in her 104th year. She was born in Durban, Manitoba on January 13, 1910. Eva was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Harold Rolls, in 1993. After moving to BC from Swan River Manitoba in 1931, Eva and Harold lived in several locations before purchasing their small hobby farm on Higginson Road, Sardis in 1952. She was a master homemaker, raising six children and tending to the many farm chores. She retired to the Lynnwood Residence 12 years ago and had recently moved to the Waverly Seniors Village in September 2012.

She was a past member of Carman United Church Ladies Auxillary. When mom’s work was done she filled her days reading, knitting and creating quilts and handiwork. She so much enjoyed her years with the Lynnwood knitting club creating lap quilts for charity.

Mom’s quiet presence and loving manner will be fondly remembered by her six children: Stan (Betty) Rolls of Chilliwack, Allan (Bev) of Penticton, Aileen Bitz (Norm Frank) of Kamloops, Shirley (Gary) Scales of Chilliwack, Ken (Kay) Rolls of Port Alberni and Evelyn (Gordie) Barber of Kelowna, 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She is survived by four sisters Bessie and Violet of Swan River, Manitoba, Daisy of Karrs, Ontario and Marjorie of Canora, Saskatchewan. Eva’s family would like to express sincere thanks to the warm and caring staff at the Waverly Seniors Village and the many Home Care staff who have helped mom over the years. A family celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
