Eva NERHEIM

November 23, 2003

Eva (nee Sandstrom) passed away quietly in Chilliwack General Hospital on Nov. 23, 2003 at the age of 80.

Eva was predeceased by her husband, Stanley and is survived by son, Andrew Nerheim; daughters: Joanna (David) Hutton of Tsawwassen, Stefanie (Michael) Paine of Victoria, and Mary Ann Pouttu of Chilliwack.

Eva will be missed by grandsons: Brook Hewlett, Christopher and Jay Corey-Hutton, Joshua and Kyle Nerheim; and granddaughters, Sarah Elizabeth Pouttu and Serena Nerheim and daughter-in-law, Manuela Nerheim.

Eva was born in Malekwa, B.C. As a young woman Eva moved to Vancouver, worked at the Boeing Aircraft Plant, and while there, met and married, Stanley Nerheim.

In 1973, the Nerheims moved up the Fraser Valley and settled in Sardis. After her first two daughters graduated from UBC, Eva fulfilled a long-long dream of attending university and enrolled in Simon Fraser University from which she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

During her long and active life, she volunteered for many organizations. She was a woman of gifts and talents: a Tai Chi instructor, and an accomplished painter. Eva’s enduring gift to her family was great personal example and her unflagging encouragement as they each moved into the world to make their own way.

As Stanley and Eva passed away only days apart, the family invite friends and relatives to a joint Memorial Service to be held on Monday, Dec. 1, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Carman United Church, 7258 Vedder Road, Sardis, B.C.

If friends would like to make a donation in Eva’s memory, the family suggests a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society.

If friends would like to make a donation in Stanley’s memory, the family suggests a donation to the Chilliwck Community Arts Council.
