“Ruth”

Jan. 29, 1918 – Dec. 9, 2009

Ruth passed away peacefully at the Hospice Home in Kamloops, BC, on December 9, 2009. Love was all around her.

Left to cherish her memory are her nieces, April (Jim), Jeanne (Claude), nephew Ward, great nieces and nephews, sister in law Ruth in Ontario and other loving family and friends.

Ruth was born to Charles and Mina Belle Grant in the family farmhouse at Fairfield Island, Chilliwack, BC.

The youngest of four, she was predeceased by her siblings, Olive (Gerald), Charlie and Edna. At 17 years of age, she moved to Victoria Avenue in downtown Chilliwack. She lived there until October 2003 when she moved to Kamloops to be close to her family.

Aunt Ruth lived most of her life with profound hearing loss. In spite of that, she was a joy to be around. She was interested in current events, an avid reader and loved her outings to the Ponderosa Adult Day Centre.

Special thanks to Lark Street, Evelyn Babij, her home and “family” at Cariboo Manor, all the girls from home support (she knew most of your names!), the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice Home and Dr. Thomasse for such wonderful loving care.

A Graveside Service will be held at the Chilliwack Cemetery on Little Mountain, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2009.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruth’s honour to Cariboo Manor, 831 Serle Road, Kamloops, BC V2B 6L8 or Chilliwack United Church, 45835 Spadina Avenue, Chilliwack, BC V2P 1T4.

Arrangements entrusted to Schoening Funeral Service, Kamloops, BC and Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, Chilliwack, BC, 604–793–4555.
