(1933 - 2008)
Eugene Turney passed away at Kamloops Memorial Hospice Home on Nov. 21, 2008 after a valiant and lengthy struggle with PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy).
Eugene was born in Cornwall, ON, played ice hockey on the fields there as a kid.
In 1956, he moved to B.C. and studied to become a teacher, and a fine one at that.
He taught (and coached basketball) for many years at Chilliwack Junior and Senior Secondary Schools. His last position (from 1978 - 1995) furthered Computer Aided Drafting at the University College of the Cariboo.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Shirley; his four daughters: Deborah, Carol, Alison and Nancy; his brother, Raymond; and sister, Sheila; and nine grandchildren.
He will be missed by all.
A celebration of Eugene’s life will take place in the spring time for the family.
We wish to thank all caregivers from Ponderosa and Ridge–view Lodges, as well as those from the Hospice.
Expressions of sympathy could be donated to the Parkinson’s Society of B.C. or to the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice Home in Kamloops.
