Ervin Steinwand of Chilliwack BC passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 21, 2012 at the age of 90. He was born on August 19, 1921 in Klostitz, Romania.

Mourning his loss are his daughter Dianne (Shaun) Mulrooney; his son Waverley (Trish) Steinwand; and daughter Lorna (Doug) Lemna; six grandchildren: Bryan (Jamey) Mulrooney, Darren (Tanzi) Mulrooney, Kristen and Tara Lemna, and Maddy and Jess Steinwand; four great-grandchildren: Ewan, Liam, Keira and Cooper.

Also mourning his loss is his sister Ida (Herb) Kraushar.

He is predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Ruth Steinwand and his brother Alex.

In 1953 Ervin and Ruth moved from Alberta to begin dairy farming on Fairfield Island in Chilliwack. They continued to enjoy farm life until the farm was sold in 1968. Too young to retire, he began driving bus for the Chilliwack School District. After retirement they enjoyed travelling to many destinations with friends and family. A highlight for the entire family was vacationing each summer at a good water skiing lake.

Ervin enjoyed good physical health throughout his life. During the last 4½ years, because of the progression of his Alzheimer’s, he resided at Cascade Lodge where he received excellent care.

The viewing will be held at Henderson’s Funeral Home, Chilliwack on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 from 7:30-9:00 pm.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Chilliwack Evangelical Missionary Church, 9310 Williams St., Chilliwack, BC.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC, #300-828 West 8th Ave., Vancouver, BC V5Z 1E2.
