Else Dyck passed away peacefully at home in Chilliwack on December 1, 2006 at the age of 81 years. She was born in Blumengart, Ukraine on October 10, 1925 and immigrated to Canada in 1947.
A wonderful caring mother and grandmother, her door was always open. Her home was a welcoming place where family and friends often gathered to sample her tasty home cooking and admire her beautiful flower gardens. “Oma” to her grandchildren, she held a special love for each and every one helping nurture them through the years.
Elsie was very active at Eden Mennonite Church and particularly loved to work with the ladies sewing quilts for MCC relief missions. Throughout her life Elsie had a steadfast and loyal faith in her Lord Jesus Christ.
Elsie lives on in the hearts of her children; Eric (Lynn), Erv, Hedy (Barry Peters), and Wanda (Martin) Bartel, and grandchildren; Elly and Brody Dyck, Sarah Vaughan, April Peters, and Keegan, Graydon, Evan and Ty Bartel. Elsie is also survived by her sister Helen Reimer, sister-in-law Lydia Zingel and brother-in-law Frank Dyck. Elsie was predeceased by her husband Peter F. Dyck, parents Cornelius and Helena Janzen, and sister-in-law Margaret Dyck.
Following a family graveside service, a memorial service will be held on Thursday December 7 at 11 am at the Eden Mennonite Church in Chilliwack, Pastor Kerry Palmer officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the MCC would be greatly appreciated.
