Betty passed away peacefully in Chilliwack with family by her side, at 93 years old.
Betty was born in Saskatchewan but grew up and spent her life in Chilliwack. She married George Younie at St. Thomas Anglican Church in Chilliwack, in 1948. Betty and George were berry farmers in Sardis for many years before going into the restaurant business, starting with Geordies Drive In and then opening Smitty's years later, which eventually became Geordies Restaurant.
Betty was a real people person, and was active in Dynasty Fashions at Southgate Mall. Once retired she spent many hours golfing, swimming at the YMCA, and playing cards with friends.
Her role as a grandmother was perhaps her most important, and she had a special connection with each of her grandchildren.
Betty was predeceased by her husband George in 1985 and her eldest son George (Jr) in 2021. She is survived by three children, Bryon (Norma) Younie, Joanne (Bob) Plowright, and Robert (Lisa) Younie, eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
