Elizabeth Betty WARR

June 28, 2004

Elizabeth Betty Warr passed away peacefully on Monday, June 28, 2004 at age 93. She was born in Victoria, BC on October 19,1910 and was predeceased by her husband, Jim in 1966. Betty grew up in Victoria with three brothers.

She completed her schooling at UBC and became a qualified English and French teacher, but her only teaching experience came many years later when she taught kindergarten classes in Kamloops.

Instead, while singing in the choir at Metropolitan United Church in Victoria, she met Jim Warr, who had recently come on staff at the church as the associate minister. Betty and Jim married in 1936 and moved to Cloverdale, where their only son was born.

The family ministered in Vancouver, Trail, Toronto, Sault Ste Marie, Kamloops, and Burnaby with their final pastorate in Hammond, BC.

After her husband passed away, Betty returned to Victoria and first worked in the office of Metropolitan United Church and later, the library at the University of Victoria.

She moved to Chilliwack about 15 years ago to be closer to her family. Betty is survived by her son, Dale (Wendy); grandchildren, Lisa (Gord) Ponak, Heidi (Dave) Blundell; and two great grandchildren, Caleb and Abby Blundell.

A Memorial Service will be held at Chilliwack United Church on Saturday, July 3, 2004 at 2:00 pm with a reception to follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, friends may wish to send a donation in her memory to Hungry for Life International, 21-46030 Yale Rd. Suite 237, Chilliwack, BC V2P 8E6
