April 24, 1922 - July 23, 2021
On Friday July 23 our Mom passed away in her sleep at Chilliwack General Hospital. She was 99 years of age. While we are heartbroken, we are happy that she has passed on to her forever life.
We celebrated Mom's Christian burial from St. Mary's Catholic Church. Father Wilfred Gomes was the celebrant. Mom was born in Garrel, Germany. At the age of five her family immigrated to Canada. They settled near Annaheim, Saskatchewan to a life of farming.
In 1944 she met her husband Martin on the train. Both were travelling from Toronto to visit their respective parents in Saskatchewan. When they returned to Toronto they knew they were meant for each other and married on July 18, 1944. They celebrated 69 year of marriage together.
Over the years Mom lived in Annaheim, Saskatchewan, Sudbury and Toronto, Ontario, Unity and Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Her last move was to Chilliwack. Mom loved to travel and she and Dad travelled many times to Europe, across Canada and the USA.
Mom was actively involved in the C.W.L. since 1946 and over the years served in many positions.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Martin in 2013 and her son Alfred in 2017.
She was also predeceased by her parents George and Elisabeth Bley and seventeen of her eighteen siblings. She is survived by one sister Linda Harder of Cranbrook, B.C.
She is also survived by her children Ken and Joan Miller of Victoria, B.C., Anne Miller of Chilliwack, B.C., Carol and Don Heit of Bowden, Alberta, and Darlene and Chuck McDowell of Fort St. John, B.C. Fifteen grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and four great great grandsons.
