BRAUN (KOPP), Elfrieda
July 1, 1938 ~ December 7, 2016
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Elfrieda (Frieda) Braun (nee Kopp) on December 7, 2016. She leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Rudy, her children: Ken (Janice), Carole (Peter), Fran (Ernie) & Lori (Rob), nine grandchildren and seven siblings. She is predeceased by her parents, one brother and one grandson. Frieda, the 4th of 9 children, was born July 1, 1938 in Coaldale, Alberta. After marrying in 1957, she and Rudy started their family and moved to different locations within BC. Frieda was always active. In the 70’s, Rudy and Frieda were both involved at CBI in Student Life where Frieda helped in giving guidance to the students. She enjoyed working many years with Woodward’s in Prince George and at The Bay in Abbotsford. Frieda had a caring and kind spirit that many were drawn to. She was involved in church, singing in the choir, and a Nonet called Instruments of Praise. Frieda loved to garden and took great pleasure in transforming her front and back yards. She also loved to read and shared her “library” with many. Even after a devastating accident 20 years ago, which limited her abilities, she was able to use her gifts and serve with Helping Hands by sewing blankets. She faithfully worked her sewing machine while making deep friendships. Frieda and Rudy were able to continue enjoying one of their passions, traveling, often coming home to fill another photo album with all their memories. More than anything Frieda valued her family and cherished time spent together, having us all over for dinner and making it special. As children, we had the privilege of watching our parents live out a great example of unconditional love for each other. A special thank you to the kind nurses and staff at the hospital who made Mom comfortable and were sensitive to the family’s needs. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Northview Church, 32040 Downes Road, Abbotsford. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
