February 8, 1934 – May 3, 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eleanor Atkinson, our dear wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, after complications sustained from a fall in her home. She is survived by her husband Lloyd of 65 years, children, Darci, Dixie (Randy), Lee (Lorena), grandchildren, Jordan (Michelle), Samantha (Ray), Dorsie (Suzanne), Tiana, step-grandchildren, Daniela, Mau, and great-grandchildren, Penny, Izzy, Jake and Kennedy. She is predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Philis, sisters, Geraldine and Sharon, and brother Ken. She is survived by her sister Dixie (Roy) and numerous nieces and nephews.
In years past many weekends were spent together by the swimming pool with extended family. In recent years the tradition has continued by celebrating numerous birthday and family parties. Eleanor enjoyed crafting and always had numerous projects on the go. She and Lloyd also were in various bowling leagues throughout the years and participated in tournaments across the country. Eleanor and Dixie, her sister and best friend, started bowling together later in life. After bowling, their afternoons were spent shopping at some of their favorite stores. Eleanor always seemed to spend the most….just so you know!
Eleanor and Lloyd especially loved the Hawaiian Islands. They traveled to Kauai on numerous occasions with many great friends and family over the years.
The family is so grateful and appreciative of the love and support of friends and extended family throughout the last three weeks. Also wish to thank Dr. Laughland for the care and attention to Eleanor and her family throughout this time. We would also like to thank the doctors and nurses at Abbotsford and Surrey Memorial intensive care units.
A celebration of life will be had on Saturday, May 11th for family and close friends.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of your choice
