1931-2011

With sadness, the family of Eileen Munro (nee Johnson) announces she quietly left us in the presence of the caring staff at the Bradley Centre, on March 29th. She joins her only true love, Bill Munro, who died in 2006. Brothers Melvin, Harvey, Walter, Gordon and sister Dorothea also predeceased her.

She will be missed by her devoted sisters, Mavis and Joyce of Alberta, and numerous nieces and nephews who all remember her as a wonderful auntie. Blessed with a pleasant demeanor and sharp wit, she successfully fought through many years of poor health with smiles and laughter.

Born July 1931 in Morse, Saskatchewan, she was the youngest child in a family of eight. When she was a young girl, her family moved to Moose Jaw where she later met and married Bill. The couple spent much of their married life living in Regina and Saskatoon. In retirement, they moved to BC and eventually settled in Chilliwack, where they especially loved the countryside and mountain views, not to mention the mild winters.

The family extend heartfelt thanks to all the medical staff of CGH emergency as they expertly tended to her complex health issues so often over recent months. Also, we are grateful to the nursing staff on 4 North for their sensitive attention to Eileen this past week. Eileen was quick to praise the Bradley Centre staff where she lived, who despite their workloads, always took time to meet her needs with skill and gentleness.

We honour her request to hold no service in her memory. Instead, we simply ask those who so wish, to do a special kindness to another and remember her smile.

The tide recedes, but leaves bright seashells in the sand.

The sun goes down, yet gentle warmth still lingers on the land.

The music stops, and yet it echoes on in sweet refrains…

For every joy that passes, something beautiful remains.
