She continued working in Vancouver at Underwriters Insurance while Jack was overseas during the war. They married in 1945 and settled in the Chilliwack area. While raising a family, Eileen enjoyed working part time. This included being hired as the first school secretary in the district (Sardis Elementary) and helping out in Jack’s store. She was a member of Carmen United church choir for many years.
After Jack passed away Eileen became the activity director at Birchwood Retirement Residence, enjoyed her book club, belonged to PEO and was a faithful volunteer at The Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve.
Eileen’s was a life well-lived. Her optimistic nature, independence and kindness to family and many friends will be cherished.
