November 23, 1945 - May 28, 2021
Lorne passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side at the age of 75, after a short battle with cancer which he faced with great strength.
He was born in Drumheller, Alberta to Einar and Anastasia Hansen. He married Carol (nee Morgan) his wife of 45 years. They had one daughter Tammie, who was born in November.
He leaves to mourn and will be sadly missed by his daughter Tammie Hamel, son in law Gerry Hamel, and his grandsons Chyle and Sagar Hamel. He was the third in a family of six. Sisters Ruby Zern, Judy Rozzler, Sheila Currie and brother Gordon Hansen along with many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Carol of 45 years and his Mother and Father, as well as brother William. Lorne is survived by daughter Tammie, son in law Gerry Hamel, grandsons Chyle & Sagar Hamel.
Lorne moved his family to Terrace March 17, 1968 from Drumheller, there he worked at the Alcan Smelter, then began trucking for Bengenter in 1969 and ran on the mountain highway called Hells Bells. Then in 1974 bought his first truck (a Hayes) with his friend Brian Holmberg.
The family moved on to Kamloops BC where Lorne logged and continued highway trucking. In 1975 he moved to Chilliwack where he lived the remainder of his life. He was a good friend, and well respected in the industry. A man true to his word and did whatever he set out to do.
He enjoyed to go to or watch online Ritchie Brothers auctions, as well as dabbling in the stock market, all well repairing and polishing his fleet of vehicles. He was a very hardworking man that enjoyed his many friends, family, whisky, and a large steak. All while he mentored his grandsons on all his passions.
A Celebration of his life will be planned at a later date when all friends and family can gather safely together to share a story or two and raise a glass of whisky.
Thank you to all the amazing nurses at the Palliative Care unit in the Abbotsford General Hospital, as well as the homecare nurses as well as the homecare aides that made it possible for Lorne to come home for his last days you are all angels! Special Thanks to Chyle and Sheila for their help. Many thanks for all the kind words and hugs from all his friends they mean so much at this time.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Lorne's name to the BC Cancer Society
