Edward Carl Smithson passed away on April 17, 2013 at Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 78 years. He was born in Carrot River, Saskatchewan on October 26, 1934.

Ed is survived by Elaine, his loving wife of 41 years; his children: Lenny Smithson, Richie (Fern) Smithson, Tracy Smithson and Darcy Smithson. He will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Carman, Sydney, Samantha and Avory as well as brothers and sisters, Dorothy and Rudy Macks, Margaret MacDonald, Lorraine Spitakis, Marlene and Cecil Collins and Billy Smithson and their families.

Ed was a member of the Princess Patricia’s Light Infantry. He was a Hospital Chef and Paratrooper with the Army. Following retirement from the service, Ed owned and operated his own businesses in Yorkton, SK. In 1986, he and Elaine moved the family to Nanaimo, BC. Ed enjoyed many activities and travel with his family. He loved his golf games with his buddies. as well as fishing and gardening.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday April 25, 2013 at 11:00 am from the Chapel of Henderson’ s Funeral Home, 45901 Victoria Ave, Chilliwack.

If so desired, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in Ed’s name would be welcomed.
