Edna Gabbott

July 28, 1921 - March 30, 2017

It's with great sadness that we have to acknowledge the passing of Edna Gabbott. Mum passed away on March 30, 2017 after 14 days of struggling with pneumonia. She passed away in her residence holding hands with her daughter Jennifer. She was predeceased by her husband John Donald Gabbott, her son David and grandson Benji. Edna leaves behind her daughters Jennifer (Bill), Helan, daughter-in-law Shannon; grandchildren, Michael (Carol), Kevin, Kirsten, Brant (Shawna), Aric (Cheryl); great grandchildren: Jake, Jerica (Travis), Katana, Amanda, Trevor, Mackenzie, Kyle, Logan and Kiera and great-great grandson Jaxton. Growing up in England, Edna met her future husband Don during their involvement with the Scouting movement. Her compassion for others was evident when she became a Nurse during WWII. In 1958, Edna and Don relocated to Hong Kong with their young family. Over the next eight years, Edna immersed herself in the culture, ran a daycare and eventually became secretary for a Chinese Import Company; she always remembered serving tea to the King of Tonga. Prior to moving to Canada, the family spent several years back in England. Mum made many friends while working for Chilliwack Manpower before she retired. She was very active in her grandchildren's lives. Mum's passions included playing Scrabble, Scottish dancing, being a member of the St. George's Society, days at the beach, gardening and… spending time with family.

We will miss her more than words can say….xxxx
