Edith (nee Engebretson) NELSON

June 28, 2006

(Oct. 1922 - June 28, 2006)

Mom passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Marvin, of almost 50 years, and her beautiful “#1 Daughter” Pat.

Mom leaves to mourn, her son: Doug (Marlene); Marlys (Jim), Darlene (Jerry), many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, three sisters, family and friends.

Mom was born and raised in Alberta to a Norwegian family of nine children experiencing many happy days as well as the hard and turbulent times of the dirty 30’s and the Second World War.

Mom married her “soldier”, moved to BC and raised four children, making their retirement years in Chilliwack.

In Mom’s younger years, she was a hard worker, helping Dad in the Mink business, remodeling homes, waitressing, sales clerk at the McLures 5 to Dollar Store in Maple Ridge, and at a Chilliwack health food store.

During the “family years” Mom cooked, sewed, gardened, canned, entertained, kept a lovely home with a flare for decorating, loved to dance and loved to go garage saleing.

Mom was a “beautiful woman” who loved fashion, hats, jewelry and red hair. Mom always kept us sparkly clean and dressed-up for special occasions and family dinners when we could all be together.

Mom appreciated a good joke and kept her quick wit, sense of humour, and her red hair until the end. Mom loved us all fiercely and unconditionally and missed Dad and Pat unbearably. It was time for her to go and is reunited with them and her God now.

Among our many lessons learned, Mom taught us about respect and love of family. We tha nk and love you “Mommy”, “Mudda”, “Mommer”, “Mom”, “Grama” and “GG”.

Until we meet again: your Sunny Boy, Devoted #2 Daughter; Baby Girl and families, xoxoxoxox

Thank you to the staff at Eden for the special care given to Mom; her makeup, hair, jokes and TLC.

A family celebration of Mom’s life to be held in August. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
