Edith Mary KIRKPATRICK

February 22, 2004

We, as a family, regret to announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother on February 22, 2004. She was our rock and the glue that kept us together. Mom’s love and support will be so very sadly missed.

Edith was born in Montreal, Quebec on Dec. 6, 1917 and was the youngest daughter of Charles and Frances Scott. She attended Montreal High, graduating at the age of 16 on scholarships. After completing her schooling she worked at Simpsons department store and took on a number of modeling jobs. She met the “man of her dreams” at a Valentines dance in 1934 and she married Dave on May 16, 1942. He was her best friend and true love for which they shared 54 years. They left Montreal in 1947 and settled in Chilliwack which was a drastic change for a girl raised in the city; but she grew to love the country atmosphere.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, Feb. 27, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at the Chilliwack United Church. Rev. Doug Ireland officiating. Cremation, Valley Crematorium, Chilliwack.

Edith was a cherished mother to Doreen (Lloyd) Russell, Michael (Linda) Kirkpatrick, and Ron Kirkpatrick. Her legacy continued with her grandchildren: Edward Broadbent, Lisa (Dal) McGinnis, Cory (Irene) Broadbent, Shawn Broadbent, Trevor (Christine) Kirkpatrick, Troy Kirkpatrick, Shanda (Will) Davis, Kimberly Kirkpatrick and Ryan, Candice Kirkpatrick and Cam, Darren (Kelly) Blakeborough, and Kyle (Shandis) Blakeborough. It continued on with pride and love with her great-grandchildren; Joshua McGinnis, Megan McGinnis, Shaylene Broadbent, Caitlin Broadbent, Erika Broadbent, Vanessa Broadbent, Bianca Broadbent, Dana Broadbent, Stephen Blakeborough and Devin Blakeborough, Amber Blakeborough, Aiden Kirkpatrick, Blake Davis, and Larissa Kirkpatrick.

She was predeceased by her parents; her sisters, Winnifred and Marjorie, her beloved husband, Dave, in 1996; daughter-in-law Trudy Kirkpatrick; son-in-law Rupert Broadbent and grandson Craig Broadbent. We’ll miss you, Mom and Nana and will love you forever.
