November 12, 1929 - March 28, 2020
It is with deep sadness that the family of Edith Marian Macdonald (Greentree) announce her passing, March 28, 2020 at the age of 90 years.
Edith was born in Dauphin, Manitoba on November 12, 1929 to Thomas and Ethel Garton, and lived on the family farm in Makinak, MB. After graduation she attended Teachers College in Winnipeg, and began teaching in a one room school in McCreary, Manitoba. It was here that she met and married Orville Greentree, and together they had 4 children.
The family moved to Chilliwack, BC in 1967, were she remained until her passing.
Edith was a resilient woman and overcame many challenges. After beating breast cancer, she began a career later in life, working 12 years for Chilliwack Home Support Services. Edith took great pride in her work, and cared deeply for her clients. She remained friends with many of her coworkers, meeting regularly for luncheons well after retirement.
Edith was also a faithful and active member of Rosedale Community Church, where she attended for many years. A special thank you is extended to Pastor Nathan Hewitt, for his ongoing support and care.
Mom will be greatly missed by her children; Donald Greentree, Eleanor (Ed) Lewis, Arlie Campbell, Lois (Garry) Roth, and her dearly loved grandchildren.
Also survived by her sister-in-law Muriel Garton, nephews, nieces, cousins, and family friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Tom and Ethel Garton, brothers, Albert Garton and Donald Garton.
Should friends so desire, donations in memory of Edith can be made to Rosedale Community Church, or a charity of one's choice.
Interment will take place at a later date, at the family gravesite in Makinak, Manitoba.
