Edith passed away at Bevan Lodge in Abbotsford on February 23, 2005 at the age of 92. She was born in Calgary, Alberta on July 21, 1912.
She was predeceased by her devoted husband Wilfred and her sister Ethel Balch.
Edith will be lovingly remembered by her twin daughters Donna (Roi) Hirtle of Burnaby and Doreen (Gordon) Howie of Abbotsford; her grandchildren Barry, Barbara, Bonny, Galen and Scott, great-grandson Jonathon and her brother Jim (Cilia) Aitken.
Edith lived in Calgary for 31 years working as a secretary for a lawyer, an accountant and for the president at Canadian Bakeries. In 1943 she married Wilfred Briggs and moved to Chilliwack. They began Briggs Paint Service in 1956 and operated that successful business until retirement. In 1980 they moved to Abbotsford.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday March 2, 2005, 1:30 p.m. at Calvin Presbyterian Church 2597 Bourquin Crescent East, Abbotsford, B.C.
