ROWAN; Durward “WARD” Armond
Ward Rowan went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 8 in Chilliwack, BC at the age of 94. Born in Dropmore, MB in 1922, he moved to BC in 1947. He met Margaret Pinkerton in 1948 were married April of 1949 and had 4 sons together, Laurie, Brad, Tim and Grant. Ward joined the Vancouver Police Department in 1948 and retired 32 years later as a Police Inspector (1979). During his years at the VPD, he started the Police Christian Association and under his leadership it grew to a large membership. After retiring, Ward and Margaret moved to Armstrong to fulfill their dream of owning a hobby farm. In 1985 Ward received a call to pastoral ministry and they moved to Rosedale where he pastored Rosedale PH Church for 5 years. He then became the Western Canadian District Superintendent for the PH Church of Canada. Five years later he retired again and not long after Margaret began suffering with congestive heart failure. August 10, 2005 Margaret passed away leaving Ward feeling very lonely. In 2006 Ward met Audrey and they married in November of that year, enjoying 10 lovely years together. Ward is lovingly remembered by his wife Audrey; children Laurie (Gayle); Brad (Annie); Tim (Karen) and Grant; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Phyllis Rowan; three nephews and their families; Audrey’s four children and their families and many other extended family and dear friends. A Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 8:30 pm on Monday, August 15 at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave, Chilliwack, BC followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 16 at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home.
