It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mom Drena with family at her side. She was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Warde, her great grandson Clayten and son-in-law Bill.
She is survived by her 4 daughters, Shandie (Michael), Sharie (Clayten), Shelagh, and Rae Wilson, 7 grandchildren, Drena, Tonnyih, Will, Shilo, Kory, Ryaen and Cristena, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
Mom was born in Tecumseh, Ont and was the eldest of a very large family. She is survived by 8 of her siblings. In 1952 mom and dad moved to Vancouver where mom worked as an RN for many years. She left nursing to become the manager of the first Duty Free Shop in Canada. She was also a member of Civil Defense and she wore many hats in her life. They moved to Chilliwack in 1987 and made some wonderful friends that she thoroughly enjoyed. She also volunteered at the church she loved being part of.
Mom had a very strong personality and was an amazing force of nature. A great lady that was always full of life. Her energy and unique intelligence inspired many people. She also had a wonderful and distinctive laugh. (Oh to hear that again.) She truly valued her family and friends, her door was always open to everyone. The world just won't be the same without her. We will miss her forever. God bless you mom.
Funeral service cannot be held until August 27th, 2 pm at St. Mary's Church.
