Douglas William Newby passed away peacefully on Monday, November 7, 2011 at The Waverly at 87 years of age. Douglas grew up in Atchelitz with 1 brother, Lloyd and 1 sister, Edith. He went on to become an ordained minister and an elementary school principal.
He was predeceased by his mother Nellie, father Clarence, brother Lloyd and sister Edith. He is survived by nephews Bob & Kay Wright of Devon, Alberta; Douglas & Joanne Wright of Denman Island; Marvin & Julie of Melbourne, Australia; good friends, Lennie Bodo, Kim & Evan Palmer and Barbara Mitchell; and many great-nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave., Chilliwack on Saturday, November 19 from 12:30 to 1:20 pm, with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 1:30 pm. Burial to follow at Chilliwack Cemetery. Following the burial, a reception for family and friends will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home.
