Douglas Wayne Sawchuk passed away peacefully at the age of 68. Doug was born May 8, 1947 in Moose Jaw, SK. His family moved and he grew up in Chilliwack. At 17 he joined the Army and was posted to Kingston, ON where he was trained as a linesman, paratrooper and worked as a physical trainer. This is also where he met his loving wife of 48 years, Joan. In his early 20’s he switched gears to become a car salesman. A passion that continued throughout his life and we loved hearing all his car stories. In 1970, together they decided to move back to BC, living in 100 Mile House and eventually back to Chilliwack to start their family. Doug worked for the next 20 years on the Army base as a Training Stores Supervisor. When the base closed down, he headed back to school to get his realtors licence and has since worked at Homelife Glenayre Realty. Doug was a kind and generous man with a big heart. He enjoyed squash, fishing and golfing at Cultus Lake. Family was everything to him and he loved nothing more than spending time at home on his property with his family and friends. You will forever be missed and loved Dougie/Dad/Papa.

Douglas Wayne Sawchuk is lovingly remembered by his wife Joan; children Tyson (Amanda) and Cindy (Joshua) Adams; grandchildren Kayden, Trisha, Brooks, Taylor and Ashlyn; brother Terry, brother-in-law Jay (Terry) and sister-in-law Janet (Murray). He is predeceased by his mother Ruth, father George and brothers Clifford and Georgie. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 7th at Woodlawn Mt. Cheam Funeral Home, 45865 Hocking Ave, Chilliwack.
