Douglas Gerbrandt

June 30, 1952 - November 14, 2022
Douglas was the first child born to Theodor and Teena Gerbrandt on June 30th, 1952 in Chilliwack, B.C. Doug passed away peacefully on Monday, November 14th, 2022.
As a child Doug lived on King Ave. For the first five years he attended Central Elementary School. In 1963 his dad,Ted, built a house on Chilliwack Central Road and Doug and his two sisters went to Robertson Elementary. Later he attended A.D. Rundle and CSSS. On Sundays Doug participated in children's programs and Youth at Broadway M.B. Church. He played fastball and Rec. soccer together with his cousins and brother-in-law, Vic.
In 1971, Doug joined his Dad building many projects including his house on Vanmar St., Minter Gardens and Dr. Thomas' office. On his holidays he travelled in his Camaro all over Canada and the USA. While still home Doug spent time with his sister Julie playing cards, watching sports and enjoying movies. Later he retired with his Dad, delivered newspapers and joined the Garden Club. Doug submitted hundreds of entries into the Fair.
Due to his declining health Doug sold his house and moved to the Hampton House. In June he turned 70. Doug's last trips were to an Altona reunion and to the Okanagan.
Doug is survived by his mother, Tina (Spenst) Gerbrandt, sisters Pat (Rick) Good, Janette (Vic) Isaak, Julie (Kevin) Traas; his nephews Brayden Traas (Lina) and Jordan Traas and his niece Larissa (Luke) Steidle. He was predeceased by his father, Ted Gerbrandt. He will be greatly missed.
