Douglas (Doug) John George passed away May 9, 2007, in Chilliwack General Hospital at the age of 77 years. He was born February 13, 1930 in Chilliwack, BC and resided in Chilliwack his entire life.
He apprenticed and worked several years as an auto body painter for Roy Morrow’s Auto Body; also worked with Upper Fraser Valley Construction and was last employed with the City of Chilliwack for 25 years until his retirement at age 65.
In 1966 he joined Anavets Unit #305 when it was first formed in Chilliwack. He worked very hard on many committees for the unit; served on the executive and was a life Time Member of Unit #305.
Doug is survived by two sisters, Irene Adams; Dorothy (Larry) Loverick of Chilliwack; one brother William (Jean) George of Williams Lake; one sister-in-law Laura George of Chilliwack and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Irene Ruth George on April 11, 1995; parents Thomas & Rosina George; four brothers Thomas, Albert, Walter, and Frank George and two sisters Kathleen Johnson, and Louise (Sue) Ballam.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 1:00pm at Henderson’s Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Chilliwack.
