(nee Bulley)

Dorothy Frances Wallace (nee Bulley) died peacefully at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC at the age of 85, on March  13, 2010.

She was predeceased by her husband Mark in February 1991 and brothers Gordon “Bud” Bulley, and John “Bus” Bulley.

Dorothy was born in Halifax, NS on June 24, 1924 to John and Nora Bulley (Leahy).

Mark and Dorothy married in Halifax in December 1958 and raised a family of four.

Dorothy will be dearly missed by her children: Mark (Judy Fairburn) of Calgary, Phil (Christine Burke) of Vancouver, Scott of Chilliwack,  and Heather Ogmundson (Tony) of North Vancouver;  eight grandchildren; her sister Geraldine “Sis” Bulley of Halifax, NS; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Although Dorothy loved her life in BC where she and Mark settled in 1970, she always referred to Halifax as “home”. She returned there frequently to visit her beloved sister Gerry, her extended family, and many childhood friends including classmates from the Convent of the Sacred Heart.

The youngest of four, she was known to everyone as “Babe”. Dorothy’s greatest joy in life was time spent with family. She was a lifelong Catholic who was committed to her faith. She remained active throughout her life, enjoying daily walks, bridge, knitting, and the daily crossword. She was also an avid sports fan. Despite being diagnosed with a brain tumour in June 2009, Dorothy’s physical strength, positive outlook and sense of humour enabled her to remain active and engaged in life until her very last days.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 1:00 pm. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 8909 Mary Street, Chilliwack followed by the Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

A reception will follow at the church hall. In lieu of other tributes and in keeping with Dorothy’s generosity to many charities, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
