Rene Nowell passed away peacefully at Heritage Village in Chilliwack on March 27, 2006 at the age of 84 years. She was born in Bruno, Saskatchewan on April 22, 1921.
She was a devoted homemaker, waitress and camp cook in the West Coast Logging Camps. Her interests included fishing, gardening, traveling and her hobbies were knitting, playing crib and jigsaw puzzles.
Rene Nowell is survived by her children; Diane Somerville of Rosswood, B.C. and Dave (Sandy) Somerville of Deroche, B.C., grandchildren; Lorena Grassing (nee Cox), Jarrett Cox, Rachelle Somerville and Michael Somerville. She is also survived by her sisters, Dorothea Muzzillo of Penticton, Yvonne Armstrong of Port Alberni and brothers, Eddy Huhn of Quesnel and Jerry Huhn of White Rock as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Rene was predeceased by her loving husband George Ivan Nowell.
A Remembrance will be held on Friday, March 31, 2006 at 1:00 pm at the Best Western Country Inn. In Rene’s honour, donations may be made to Ruth and Naomi’s Street Ministry in Chilliwack, 46305 1st Avenue, Chilliwack, B.C
