(May 6, 1933 - June 4, 2008)
Born in Chilliwack, B.C., Don passed away on Wednesday morning, June 4, 2008 surrounded by his devoted family after being diagnosed with stomach cancer only four weeks earlier.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Rhoda; son Brett Barnes and daughters Debra Barnes, Barbara Dinter (Henry) and Shawn Witter (Robert); grandchildren Kristy Fane, Brianna and Melissa Roberts, and Emily, Karli, Julia and Samuel Witter.
He loved his life’s work in construction which took him to many areas of BC where he cleared land to build roads and golf courses as well as ski runs at Whistler/Blackcomb.
The immediate family would like to say a special thank you to all the devoted family and friends who visited Don so faithfully during his illness and also to the nursing staff at Chilliwack General Hospital who cared for him so well during his final days.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 1:00 PM at Chilliwack United Church, 45835 Spadina Ave., Chilliwack, BC. Reception to follow.
