MAJOR, Donat (Don)

Peacefully passed away with his family by his side at Cascade Hospice in Chilliwack, on April 01, 2016 at the age of 86 after a courageous battle with lymphoma. Dad will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Kimberley and Karen. Dad (Papa) will be sadly missed by his 3 grandchildren, Kyle, Jessa and Kathleen. He also leaves to mourn his brother Olivier (Laura), his sister Lorraine, sister-in-law Gladys, a very special companion Renee and many nieces and nephews from Manitoba and British Columbia. Predeceased by his parents Ovila and Alice, wife Kathleen, brother Omer and sister Beatrice. Dad was born in Vassar, MB in 1929 and was an extremely hard worker all his life. Dad worked in the forest at a young age falling trees with a hand saw, in the mines and also for the railroad just to name a few. His final trade was drywalling & taping and a master he was! Dad had a wonderful sense of humour and an exceptional memory and people just thought the world of him. He was caring, honest and a fun man that loved life. We would like to thank Dr. Du Toit, Dr. Galbraith, Dr. Bull and all the wonderful nurses and amazing staff at Cascade Hospice who all took wonderful care of this special man! In keeping with Dad’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration in his memory will be held on June 18th, 2016 for 1 pm at Carman United Church, 7258 Vedder Rd., Chilliwack, BC.
