Donald N Patten, age 82, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2021.
Don was born in 1938 in British Columbia to Robert (Bob) and Marion Patten. He received a law degree in 1963 from the University of British Columbia and practiced law in Chilliwack for over 50 years. Married to Elaine for 61 years, he was a devoted husband and a proud and caring father and grandfather.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Michael (Tracy) and Lee Ann (Geoff), grandchildren, Emily, James and Katherine, brother, Robert (Irena) and family and friends across the country.
Don was a man of great intellect and generosity. He was well known for his quick wit and kind and compassionate spirit. Don always had a love of sports; from high school basketball to skiing, windsurfing, golfing, racquetball, squash, tennis and mountain biking. Don was a fierce but fair competitor. He was also hard to beat at bridge and chess.
An active member of the Chilliwack community, Don supported numerous organizations over the years including acting as counsel for the Ministry of Children and Family Development for 25 years, trustee and chair of the Chilliwack School District, member and president of Rotary, president of the Fraser Cheam Home Support Society and past director of the Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce and Chilliwack YMCA.
