The Mitchell family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Donald James Mitchell; beloved husband father and grandfather.
Don passed away surrounded by family on June 8, 2021 at the Chilliwack General Hospital.
Donald was born in Strongfield, Saskatchewan to James and Sophia (Dolly) Mitchell. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 71 years, Frances, his parents and siblings Robert, Barry and Iris.
He will be lovingly remembered by his son Lon (Dianne), grandchildren Adam, Kelsey and Jamie (Rachel), as well as his extended family and lifelong friends.
Donald lived a storied life in Saskatchewan and BC, eventually settling in Chilliwack, BC. He was a proud Canadian who served as the (civilian) range warden of CFB Chilliwack for 42 years.
Don will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, cheeky sense of humour, love of the outdoors and gardening, his ability to fix anything and his passion for reading and learning.
Thank you to Dr. Paul Basson, Dr. Marc Greidanus and the nurses and staff at CGH. Special thank you to the home support staff for their compassionate care.
Due to the current pandemic situation, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
