In Loving Memory of Oma
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dina Engelbrecht (Mutschmann), a beloved wife, mother, Oma and Gross Oma, and friend to many. Dina was the devoted wife of Richard and a mother figure to so many who were blessed to know her.
She peacefully left this world to be with our beloved Saviour in the early morning hours of October 22, 2024, at the age of 94.
She was born in Slonsk, Poland on January 9, 1930. Dina spent her younger years in a time of great turmoil and unrest in Europe which taught her perseverance and a great love of life.
She immigrated to Canada on October 25, 1949. Here she met her husband, Richard Engelbrecht, who truly was the love of her life. They married on May 20, 1950 in Chilliwack B.C. and the Lord granted them 57 loving years together.
She was a person who brought people together. In her early years, she connected with others through her many seasonal jobs. She had a special way of making people feel like family, offering kindness and warmth to all who crossed her path. Later in life, Dina's love for others found expression in her cakes and flowers. Her kitchen was filled with the scent of homemade treats including pineapple cake, cherry squares and black forest cake. Dina's creativity in the kitchen was only surpassed by the joy she found in sharing her creations with loved ones.
Through all her adventures and the many roles she filled, Dina relied on her deep faith in God for guidance. Her life was a testament to His love and grace, which radiated through her serving heart. Her legacy is one of love, kindness, and faith, and she will be remembered for the light she brought into the lives of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
Dina was predeceased by her loving husband Richard, son Ron, brothers Eduard and Gustav, and sister Elli.
Leaving to mourn her are her children Rita (Dave), Harry (Darlene), Erika (John), Lawrence (Marie), and Helmut (Barb) as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren and also her brother Ed Peter (Helen), Sister in law Edelgard, Brother in law Herb Engelbrecht (Ingrid) and sister in law Emma Engelbrecht.
