Dimitri Mitischev passed away Friday January 21, 2011 at the age of 88 at Chilliwack General Hospital with his wife and son by his side. He was born Nov. 6 1922 in Gomel, Russia.

He joined the army when he was 18 years old, and fought in World War II. He came to Montreal, Canada in 1953, working his way across the country, living in Vancouver for a number of years before settling in Chilliwack in 1966. He worked for Eatons as a electronics repairman and then he worked for the G.V.R.D.

Dimitri enjoyed his amateur radio, reading, going for drives. He looked forward to visits with his children.

Dimitri is survived by his wife Ruth; his daughter, Vera Littlewood and her children Yvonne, Andrea, Michelle; his son Pete (Jo-Ann) Mitischev, and their children, Jodi (Rick), Jennifer; and his two great-grandchildren Shaylee and Rhiannon.

The family would like to thank the nurses on 3rd floor north wing at Chilliwack General Hospital, Dr Larson , Rev. Dean and our family and friends for all the compassion and support at this difficult time.

Funeral service will be held Saturday January, 29 2011, 11:00 am at the Christ Lutheran Church 9460 Charles Street Chilliwack BC.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christ Lutheran Church in memory of Dimitri Mitischev.
