Derrick Cyril CROYDON

Derrick Cyril Croydon late of Chilliwack, B.C. passed away June 18, 2004 at the age of 88 years. He was born April 28, 1916 in Ottery St. Mary, East Devon, England.

Derrick was a member of the R.A.O.B., the British Legion, Royal Canadian Legion Br. #280 and a former member of the R.C.L. #68 in Vancouver where he was President for two terms.

He was also a member of the Corps. of Commissioners, a Veteran of WWII and served with Devon and Dorset Regiment, transferred to the Hampshire Regiment in England. He was a P.O.W. for 3 years during that time. Medals awarded: Military Conduct, Very Good; 1939/45 Star, Africa Star with 1st Army Clasp, Italy Star, Defence Medal, War Medal Efficiency Medal (Territorial).

A Service of Remembrance will be held at the Vedder R.C.L. Br. #280 on Thursday, June 24, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. Fr. Fred Tassinari officiating. Cremation, Valley Crematorium, Chilliwack.

Derrick is survived by 3 daughters: Jean Croydon of England; Carol Midgley of Edmonton; Sally Croydon of Chilliwack; son, Barry (Gloria) Croydon of Agassiz. Also survived by 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Doris, 2000; his 2 sisters, Rita and Sylvia and grandson, Stevie (1985).
