May 16, 1941 - October 31, 2023

1941-2023 ~ Denise Marguerite Pauls, nee Wright was born May 16, 1941, in New Westminster, BC, and passed away on October 31, 2023, in Chilliwack, BC. Denise was memorable with her unique sense of humor, quick quips, and could say a lot with one raised eyebrow.

She was goofy, loving, and crazy in so many ways and went out of her way to help strangers, friends, and family.

Mom was an amazing cook and kept her family well-supplied with various goodies from her dessert drawer including cinnamon buns, air buns, brown cookies, perski, and Happy Day cake to list a few.

In addition to being a wife and mother, later in life, Denise went to Fraser Valley College to become a Caregiver Aide.

Denise is survived by her devoted husband, Abe, and her three children: Suzanne, Liza (Bob Fuenning), and Christine (Kevin Wood).

She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Maya, Evan, Tulia, Lilly (Suzanne's), Nicholas, Lana (Liza's) and Alex (Christine's).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Denys and Margaret Wright, her brother Gordon Wright, and her grandson, Owen Zucchelli.

Mom's childhood was spent on James Island, just off Vancouver Island. She attended a one-room school until high school when she took a daily ferry to Sydney and graduated from Mount Newton.

Faith was also an important part of her life. Abe and Denise were longtime members of Cooke's Presbyterian Church and later spent many Sundays at Sardis Community Church.

A small intimate memorial service was held November 2nd at their home, attended by some of the family's closest friends to celebrate her life. Denise will be deeply missed. Her legacy of love, laughter, and selflessness will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
