Dean Hassett Sellinger passed away in Vernon jubilee hospital on January 29, 2006 at age 14 after a long battle with cancer.

Dean was born in Chilliwack on July 24 1991 and attended St Mary’s Catholic Elementary School until grade 7. Dean and his family were active members of St. Mary’s catholic parish. Dean’s love and faith in god was evident in the courage he displayed throughout his life.

Dean was a member of the British Columbia Kart Racing Association out of Chilliwack and became an avid and accomplished driver, enjoying many victories throughout western Canada

Dean lived everyday of his life for the moment. He had a maturity and perspective far beyond his years. Before he became a teenager, Dean assumed a partnership role in his parent’s construction company and realized the importance of focus and dedication to work.

Dean will be sadly missed by his parents Daniel and Dana, his sisters Sayla and Silken, his grandparents Leo and Lona Sellinger, Dean and Yvonne Hassett and numerous uncles aunts and cousins.

Dean will also be missed by the close friends and teachers at St Mary’s Catholic School in Chilliwack and friends of the B.C. Kart Racing Association.

Prayer services for dean will be held at St Mary’s Catholic Church on Friday, February 3 2006 at 7:00 pm.

A funeral service will be presided over by close friend bishop-elect Gary Gordon at St. Mary’s catholic church on Saturday, February 4, 2006 at 10:00 am. with a reception immediately after. Burial arrangements forthcoming

In lieu of flowers for those wishing to make a memorial donation, they may be made to the Vancouver Children’s Hospital.
