November 26, 1925 - September 27, 2018
David passed away peacefully in the arms of family at the age of 92 in Baillie House, Maple Ridge. Predeceased by his wife, Eileen, and brother, Tony, he will be missed by his loving children: Deirdre (George), Claire (Rob), Richard (Vanessa), and Yvonne (Leigh), grandchildren: Coel (Kate), Chelsea (Josh), Meghan (Chris), Stuart, Courtney (Baruc), Fraser, Andrea, Aidan, Anika, and Cecilia and great grandchildren: August, Henry, Lunelle, Oscar, Patrick, and Ixchel.

David was an active volunteer within varied communities: Weather Observer Environment Canada, Ayrshire Breeders Associations, Fraser Cheam Regional District, and the Chilliwack River Ratepayers, among others. His prudence, discernment, tenacity, and wit made him a key member on all committees.

David gave gentle encouragement to move beyond comfortable boundaries and seek adventures of one's heart. His delight in accomplishments and achievements were felt through a warm smile, a simple written message, or a lingering hug. David's proudest legacy is his family, often saying with wonder, "And to think I started all this."

David's love for the hardy Ayrshire cow brought him from England in 1946 to the narrow valley of the Chilliwack River in Sardis, BC. From rugged forest he lovingly created Auchenway Farm with its verdant fields, the towering cedar, and the river roiling at its edge. This was his adventure of the heart.

We would like to invite you to a Celebration of Life at Deirdre and George's home, 23677 133rd Avenue, Maple Ridge, Saturday, November 24th, between 1- 4 pm. with a short program at 2 pm.

In David's memory please consider a donation to the SPCA.
