McBride; David Laurence
June 14, 1939 – July 13, 2016
David Laurence McBride climbed his final mountain at the age of 77 on July 13, 2016 at 1405 hour at the Chilliwack General Hospital, after a short battle with cancer, surrounded by his wife and daughters. David was born in Woodstock, NB. He spent 7 years in the military, then went into logging as a faller. He enjoyed the forest and mountains. David is survived by his wife Gwen of 56 years, daughters Wanda (Andy), Shelley (Murray), grandchildren Alicia (Connor), Tyler (Nickie), and Jenna and great grandchildren Jack, Ben, Sam and Kate. He was a “Go To” man and will be greatly missed. David is also survived by brothers, Donald, Richard, Herbert, Allison, Earl, Ronald, Gary and Terry. David was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Josie McBride, along with brothers Clinton, Arnold and Albert. David was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, backpacking and of course his horses. He spent many a summer in the mountains with the horses.
He was a founding member of the “Wild Sheep Society of B.C.” Active in the conservation of Sheep on the Mountain.
There will be a celebration of life, tea and service at Chilliwack Alliance Church, 8700 Young Rd on Thursday July 21st at 1:30 p.m. If friends so desire, donations can be made to the “Vision Tree” at Chilliwack Alliance Church or the charity of your choice.
