David Albert Laithwaite passed away late on July 10, 2006.
David was born in England, July 16th 1946. Soon after, his family moved back to Canada where David spent time living in many different B.C. communities.
Professionally, it was all about vehicles; David worked many years as an ICBC estimator and some years with his own autobodyshop in Chilliwack.
Predeased by his parents, Albert and Betty, and his brother, Chris.
He is survived by his faithful four-legged companion Sadie; brother, Tim (Fiona); sister-in-law, Anna Madson; daughter, Lisa, and his nieces and nephews: Amanda (Michael), Geoffrey, Aaaron (Joelle), Melissa (Heath) and Amy, and by his great nieces and nephews: Keegan, Abby, Kye and Emma. As well as his many dear friends: Hugh, Jan, Jim, John, Maggie, Marty, Terry and many more.
David (aka Bear) will be fondly remembered and greatly missed as a loyal friend; for the love he most often displayed with acts of service; for the boundless advise offered to protect and support; for his generosity to all those he considered family and friend; and for the injustice he fought.
He was always exactly where he needed to be. David, the eternal renovator, was ever changing with the ebb and flow of his dreams with a hammer. He loved his dogs, all dogs. He treasured his trips to niece’s Amanda’s latest home away from home. David enjoyed his annual motorcycle ride, off to whatever destination held the most promise for sunny weather. He rarely missed the autumn ‘Toy Run’ for kids and always managed to ‘keep the shiny side up’.
We love you and miss your presence.
At David’s request there will be no formal service, instead a Celebration of Life will be held at David’s home on Saturday, July 29th, 2006 at 2 PM in the afternoon.
