Feb. 23, 1933 – July 13, 2011

Dan Beukens was born in Sneek, Friesland, the Netherlands. He was the ninth of 14 children and enjoyed growing up on a dairy farm as part of a large family.

In 1953 he immigrated to Canada. He spent time working on farms in Saskatchewan and Delta and later worked for many years as a logger in central BC. He moved to the Fraser Valley and worked for 20 years managing the irrigation in Sumas Prairie.

He married Ina in 1980 and had a son, Robin, in 1982. Since this time he has been living in Chilliwack and enjoyed spending time at home with his family. In recent years he developed Alzheimer’s disease but he remained happy during his illness. He passed away peacefully on July 13, 2011.

Dan is remembered as a devout Christian who had a strong faith in God. He was committed to living a Christian life. Dan was a quiet man who was a favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was a loving, supportive father and a loyal husband who was always there for his family.

He will be missed by his wife Ina, son Robin, sisters Doreen Beukens, Pytsje (Geert) Andringa, sister-in-law Joyce Beukens and brothers-in-law Fred Gietema, Otte de Jong, and a large extended family.

A memorial service was held on July 18, 2011 at the Cornerstone Christian Reformed Church on McNaught Rd., Chilliwack.
