Cornelius Van OOSTEROM

On April 21, 2012, Mr. Cornelius Van Oosterom passed away at his home in Chilliwack, B.C., at the age of 80 years old.

Cornelius was born on July 15, 1931, in Krimpen aan den Ijssel, The Netherlands. He immigrated to Canada with his parents in 1952 and worked in logging, surveying, for Canada Post, and operated his own raspberry farm for many years.

Cornelius Van Oosterom is survived by his wife, Mrs. Gerdien Van Oosterom, after 54 years of marriage. He is also remembered by his children; Brenda Van Oosterom of Chilliwack, Henk and Teresa Verhoef of Agassiz, Bill and Cathy Van Oosterom of Chilliwack, Clarence and Debbie Van Oosterom of Chilliwack, along with seventeen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Maria Bisschop.

A funeral service was held for Cornelius Van Oosterom on April 26, 2012, in the Bethel Netherlands Reformed Congregation in Chilliwack, followed by interment at Chilliwack Cemeteries, with Rev. P. van Ruitenberg officiating.
