NEUFELD, Cornelius Henry

February 17, 1919 - May 1, 2016


Cornelius was born in Leonidovka, Arkadak, Russia and emigrated to Canada at the age of 10 with his family of twelve. Corny farmed in Manitoba, Alberta and finally settled in Chilliwack in 1946. They milked cattle, raised chickens, and planted raspberries and strawberries. He farmed 25 acres on Gillanders Road until 1965 when they moved across the street where he raised pullets and drove a mail route until his retirement in

1984. He accepted the Lord in to his heart at age 13 and attended Bible School in his late teens in Gem, AB and Coaldale. Corny was baptized into the Gem Mennonite Brethern Church during this time. In Chilliwack he was a member of the Central Community Church (formerly East Chilliwack MB Church) for 58 years serving as treasurer and deacon. He was a man of deep faith his entire life. Corny is predeceased by his first wife, Irma (Hamm), his three children, Evelyn, Victor and Carol and his second wife Lena (Kroeker). He will be dearly missed by his children, Harvey (Carol) Neufeld and Loretta (Jake) Krueger, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 7, 11:00 am at the Central Community Church, 46100 Chilliwack Central Road.
