Cornie was born March 5, 1927 in Ekaterinoslav, Russia and passed to his heavenly home on
January 25, 2018 at Cascade Lodge.
He leaves to mourn his children; Ruth (Michael) Altrows, Ron (Margaret) Funk, Linda Funk and Rick (Barbara) Funk; grandchildren Mandi Plain, Richard Jess and Jesse Funk; great grandchildren Khieran and Alessandra Plain.
Cornie was predeceased by his wife of 62 years Nettie (nee Spenst) and all of his siblings. He also leaves to mourn George (Marge) Spenst, Mary Krahn, Tina Gerbrandt, Sue (Dave) Wiens, Margaret Brendstrup, John Spenst, Helen (Peter) Redekop, Betty (Fred) Bartel and many nieces and nephews.
Cornie worked in construction most of his life, the last 32 years for Henry Rempel, making cement sidewalks, driveways, basements and lastly silos. He was very active in many different ways in his church.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, February 13 at 1:30 p.m. at Broadway Mennonite Church, 46611 Maple Avenue, Chilliwack.
