Clive Mellor died peacefully at home on August 24th, 2011 after a short illness. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Dr. Terry Anne Komusi, and his children by his first wife Ann (nee Phillipson): Simon, Judith, Hilary, Clare, Justin and their families. In England his brother Peter Mellor and sister Barbara Wright and their families also mourn their loss.

He was born in Glossop, Derbyshire, attended Manchester University where he graduated MB, ChB, and trained there in Psychiatry obtaining the M.D. and PhD. He also served two years as a captain in the R.A.M.C. from 1958-1960.

He left his senior lecturer’s job in Manchester in 1971 to go to the New Medical School at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He was professor of Psychiatry for the next 23 years. His main publications were in the areas of schizophrenia and alcoholism. He was Chief of Psychiatry at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital for 10 years before becoming Chief of Psychiatry at the General Hospital of Memorial University after completing his term as chairman, he became Chief of Staff at the General Hospital for the next three years.

Upon retirement, he moved to the Fraser Valley where he practiced as community psychiatrist for another five years before retiring to his small farm in Agassiz where he, his wife and their three dogs enjoyed a relaxing and bucolic life.
