Christopher Harvey Gray passed away at the age of 39 years, in a tragic accident that also claimed the life of his close friend, on October 19, 2013. Chris was born on May 2, 1974, to Keith and Charlene (Bystedt) Gray at the Langley Hospital in BC. He began his education in Abbotsford and in 1980, moved with his family to a farm in Rosedale where he grew up. As a child and into his teen years, Chris enjoyed sports and played baseball and soccer. He worked at Cannor Nurseries before he learned about the roofing trade from his Uncle David Gray. He was employed with various roofing companies before starting his own roofing construction business and relocating to Buchanan, SK in 2008. Chris had a great appreciation for the outdoors - especially camping, fishing, boating and swimming - but he most enjoyed sitting around a campfire. Chris was an avid hockey fan who enjoyed card and computer games and liked to gamble. Unquestionably, Chris's pride and joy were his two sons, Joshawah and Brayden and in 2012 he retained primary custody of them. His children were the highlight of his life. He deeply loved his family and friends and especially cherished dinners and celebrations when they gathered together. He was kind, generous and always wanted harmony and peace in all his relationships. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Chris was predeceased by his great-grandparents Rhoda and Irvin Olson and Eric and Jesse Gray; maternal grandfather Harvey Bystedt; and his uncle Laurence Bystedt. He is survived by his parents Keith and Charlene Gray; his sons Joshawah and Brayden and their mother Rose; brother Terry Gray and his daughters Carissa and Macy Gray; sister Leah Gray (Kris Mallisetty); nephew Eric Gray (Natasha Chandra); grandmother Ivy Swenson; special friend Karen Chopty and her son Tate as well as many aunts, uncles, friends and relatives close to his heart. A Celebration of Life Service was held on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Leson's Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Bright officiating. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Trust Fund for Chris's Children as tokens of remembrance in memory of Chris Gray.
