Christel Elsa I. Grasslin passed away on Monday April 26, 2004 at Chilliwack General Hospital at age 74 years. She was born December 29, 1929 in Marineberg, East Germany.
Christel is survived by her son, Don (Rochelle); grandchildren, Jennifer, Rachel and Nicolas; siblings, Ilsa Tiemann, Helga Claassen, Wolfgang Ediger and Lohta Ediger.
Her parents Anna and Kurt Ediger predeceased her.
Christel’s family moved from East Germany to West Germany following WWII. In 1954, they immigrated to Canada, making it their home. Christel and Klaus, her husband of 35 years, moved to Chilliwack in 1968 as owners of the Sleep Ezee Motel. Christel loved walking her dog, Poochie and having her grandchildren over for Sunday dinners. We will all miss Omi’s funny antics and stories and her smile, which was always there.
A graveside service was held on Friday, April 30, 2004 at 10:30 am from Vedderview Gardens, Pastor Tim Rowan officiating.
