Catherine (Kay) passed away in Prince George, B.C. at the age of 85. She died peacefully at her home following a short illness.
In her final days she was able to spend time with her family and friends saying goodbye and reliving fond experiences. Her children want to thank all of Kay’s friends and family for their contact in her final days.
Kay goes to join her husband Fred, mother Ruth, father Bill, sister Dixie, brothers Walt and Bill and close personal friend Harold. She leaves to cherish her memory, her children Ruth, Robert and Rick (Joan); grandchildren Pat (Amy), Stephen (Diane), Jody, Bradley, Adam and Deborah; great grandchildren Jesse, Jade, Brenna, Owen, Zakk, Josh, Gage and Ryenne; her nieces, especially Dixie (Ole); nephews; her cousins, especially Beth; and numerous close friends including Harold’s children Larry and Butch (Kerie).
Kay was born in Saskatchewan and lived most of her early life on Vancouver Island. She enlisted with the British Army at the start of the Second World War serving in England. Once Canada allowed women to enlist, she transferred to the Canadian Women’s Army Corps. Upon returning to Canada in 1945, she married Fred, living and working in various communities across Canada as a military spouse. Once retired, she and Fred moved to the Chilliwack B.C. area, subsequently to Kelowna and finally Prince George to be with her daughter.
Kay will be interred at the Chilliwack Cemetery in Chilliwack, B.C. with her beloved Fred. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you use the money to spend time with a loved one.
