Catherine Francis Barritt (nee Ray)

December 31, 1925 - March 29, 2022
Catherine Francis Barritt (Ray) passed away March 29, 2022 in Chilliwack, BC at the age of 96. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Reynold (Rennie) Barritt in 2010.
She was also predeceased by her sisters Eileen and Mildred, and her brother, Don.
Catherine is survived by her son Wayne (Sue) of Calgary and her daughter Diane (Norman) of Revelstoke, grandchildren Jennifer (Mike), Stephanie (Eric), Laura (Jeremy), Cheryl (John) and Adam (Danielle), as well as 6 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Jean and brother, Clifford.
Catherine was born in Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan and was the second eldest in a family of six children. They moved around during the hard years of the 1930's and ended up in Mission, BC. Catherine graduated and moved into Vancouver to work as a secretary.
She met her husband Rennie there and they were married in 1948. Their first child was born in New Westminster before they moved to Chilliwack where their second child was born. She and Rennie continued to live in Chilliwack for the rest of their lives.
Catherine enjoyed many hobbies such as knitting and crocheting for many years as well as a few years of working with ceramics. She and Rennie were very active members of the Chilliwack Square Dance Club for years where they made many good friends.
The family would like to thank all the staff at The Auburn Seniors Residence for their wonderful care of Mom during her final years, Dr. Scholtz, her family physician and the wonderful, caring staff of Cascade Hospice.
There will be a Memorial Tea for Catherine on April 21, 2022 at 1:30 pm at the Woodlawn-Mt. Cheam Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Catherine's name to the Chilliwack Hospice Society at www.chilliwackhospice.org
